The 34-year-old Djokovic can win the calendar Grand Slam as the first tennis player in 52 years and the third in history. So far, only in 1938 did the American Don Budge and twice the Australian Rod Laver in 1962 and 1969.

At the US Open, Djokovic will strive for a fourth triumph. Overall, he advanced to the 31st grand slam final and equaled Roger Federer’s record, with which he and Rafael Nadal also share a record with 20 grand slam titles.

However, the Russian tennis player Medvedev started the match better. He served well and in addition in the first game he took the service of the famous Serb. The deployed two benefited from the cannonball and collected fifties without the slightest problem, Djoker was not entitled to even think about the chance to take back the lost serve. So it was no wonder that Medvedev controlled the first set with a ratio of 6: 4.

The second set had already offered ttocha a different spectacle. The possibility of breaks was on both sides. But he was the only one used. In the fifth game, Medvěděv broke the opponent’s serve and immediately confirmed the break with a clean game. The Russian was confident, not afraid to take risks, and was rewarded with important points. He often encouraged himself with a clenched fist and celebrated success. Djokovic tried everything possible, but at the moment the opponent found the answer to practically everything the Serb tried.

Stosur won the doubles after 16 years

Tennis player Samantha Stosur won her second US Open doubles title after 16 years. The 37-year-old Australian, who won the doubles competition in Flushing Meadows in 2005, triumphed alongside Chang Shui, a six-year-old Chinese woman.

Stosur and Chang Chai, who have already won the 2019 Australian Open together, defeated the second triumph of teenagers in New York. In today’s final, they beat 6: 3, 3: 6, 6: 3 with 17-year-old Cori Gauff and 19-year-old Catherine McNally. The young Americans thus failed to build on the sensational victory of 18-year-old Emmy Raducanu in singles.

Exactly ten years ago, Stosur won a single competition at the US Open and achieved the greatest success of her career. In total, the Brisbane native has eight Grand Slam cups in her collection today: one in singles, four in women’s doubles and three in the mix.

Handicapped tennis players completed the Golden Slam

Australian Dylan Alcott and Dutchman Diede de Groot became the first handicapped tennis players to win the so-called Golden Slam at the US Open today. This year, the world number one wheelchair user has won all four grand slam tournaments and the singles at the Paralympic tournament in Tokyo.

Alcott and De Groot completed a unique success today with two hundred wins in the New York final. “It wasn’t possible for a long time because there was no singles competition at Wimbledon. It’s been played there for a while now and it’s amazing to see that the tour is becoming more and more professional,” said De Groot.

The only person to reach the Golden Slam so far was Steffi Graf. The German tennis player won all four grand slams and the 1988 Olympic tournament in Seoul.

Novak Djokovic had a chance at the Golden Slam this year until the Tokyo Games, who triumphed at the Australian Open, Roland Garros and Wimbledon. In Japan, the Serbian tennis player was eliminated in the semifinals with the German Alexander Zverev, however, at the US Open he is also striving for the highly valued calendar Grand Slam.
