US Open | May your mother die soon! Tennis star faces shameful hatred – Sport.cz

The winner of 11 WTA tournaments and last year’s US Open semi-finalist was bombarded with heavy blasts on social media after her first round defeat by Mexico’s Renata Zarazu.

“Here are some of them, but there are hundreds of them,” the familiar French woman began her long answer on the X network, in which she wanted to warn about the problem. She deleted messages like, “I hope to die your mother soon” or “You should shoot yourself.”

“I’m 30 years old and these things still hurt. In the end, I’m just a normal girl who works hard and tries to give her the best. But I have already learned how to deal with this and protect myself from hate. But this just isn’t right,” wrote Garcia, who draws attention to the repulsive phenomenon primarily for the sake of his followers.

“It worries me a lot, I think about the young players who are just coming up and they have to go through this. They are usually not fully grown people yet and can be negatively affected,” she continued.

“Competitions and sports in general are becoming associated with bookies who attract new people to harmful bets. The days of tobacco companies sponsoring sports are long gone, but now they are partners with betting companies that actively destroy other people’s lives. In fact, everyone can do what they want with their money. But this should not be advertised,” said the native of Saint-Germain-en-Laye.

“Furthermore, if someone chooses to say something publicly, they should not be breaking the law. But then why does everyone say what they want in the online space? Shouldn’t we think about this privacy in the online environment?” said the tennis player.

She received support from her industry peers for her sweeping tweet. “Constant threats and attacks on the family are now completely normal,” Jessica Pegula wrote number six, for example.

“People say crazy things. In doing this, he is attacking someone who has worked hard all his life trying to play at the highest level. No one from the outside knows exactly the circumstances, what the player is going through and how it affects him,” said another American, Frances Tiafoe.

After all, the Czech tennis players enjoyed their time with the unruly bettors. Recently, for example, Markéta Vondroušová.
