US Open, 1/2 finals, women
Gauff – Muchova – 2:0 (6:4, 7:5)
Keys – Sabalenka – 2:1 (6:0, 6:7, 6:7)
The American defeated the Czech Muchova in two sets. With the break, Gauff quickly took a confident lead (3:0). And then, with another break from her opponent, the Czech tennis player was already “on fire” 1:5. However, Muchova found internal reserves to impose a fight.
She took three games in a row and reduced the gap to the American tennis player (4:5). However, Gauff immediately organized a break-even on her own serve and closed the set in 43 minutes. But the second batch turned out to be much more competitive.
Muchova and Gauff played on equal terms until the middle of the set. However, with the score 4:3 in her favor, the American scored a break. In the next game, she was already serving for the match, but allowed the Czech to get a reverse break. With the score 5:6, Muchova won back 4 (!) match points, but couldn’t cope with the fifth…
The fight between the American Keys and Sabalenka got off to a sensational start. The owner of the courts simply crushed the Belarusian tennis player in the first set. The US representative did not give up a single game to the future first racket of the world and “hung up the steering wheel” in just 31 minutes.
Sabalenka came to her senses in the second game. The opponents simultaneously scored points and brought the matter to a tiebreaker. There, Keys was unable to do anything against the Belarusian, taking only 1 point against her opponent’s seven.
I had to play the deciding set. His script turned out to be similar to the second game. Keys and Sabalenka focused on their own serves and only traded breaks once in the middle of the set. In the tiebreaker, the match became fierce, but the Belarusian tennis player managed to win (10:5).
