USS Tang (SSN 805) is the next Virginia-class nuclear submarine and the fourth Block V-class submarine. In addition, she will be the first to receive a VPM (Virginia Payload Module) payload module. The name was officially announced on November 17, 2020.
The presence of VPM in the central part will additionally equip the submarine with 28 Tomahawk cruise missiles. Thus, USS Tang (SSN 805) will be armed with a total of 40 missiles.
The US Navy is ready for a big investment in the project.
