The US basketball team in Las Vegas is conducting a training camp and test matches before the upcoming start of the Tokyo Olympics. On Wednesday, the team announced that one player will have to follow the Covid-19 protocol in the future.
Although the name of the basketball player is not mentioned in the announcement, ESPN reports, citing its sources, that the player is Bill, a spokesman for the Washington Wizards of the National Basketball Association.
There will be more clarity about Bill’s health on Thursday.
In the event that Bill has to miss the Tokyo Olympics for this reason, he will be replaced by one of three players – Keldon Johnson, Darius Garland or Sedik Bay.
One source, ESPN, revealed that one person who was diagnosed with Covid-19 and two contacts had to leave the U.S. camp last week.
On Friday, the US national team will play a test match with Australia, but on Sunday, a test against Spain is planned at the end of the training camp.
It has already been reported that in the first two games, the team led by Greg Popovich unexpectedly gave way to Nigeria with 87:90 and to Australia with 83:91. On Wednesday, the US basketball players defeated Argentina with 108: 80.
The Olympic Games in Tokyo are scheduled for July 23 to August 8.
