The US has downed an unknown flying object for the fourth time this month. This time it was an object that flew over Lake Huron, near the border with Canada. It is still unclear what exactly was shot down.
“The object was shot down by pilots of the United States Air Force and National Guard,” reports Elissa Slotkin of the House of Representatives. Earlier in the day, her colleague Jack Bergman stated that an object was “dismantled” above the lake.
Canada and the US have been on high alert for airborne intruders in recent weeks, since the appearance of a balloon over US airspace earlier this month. According to the US, it was a Chinese “spy balloon”. China denies that. The US military shot down the balloon on February 4.
The objects brought down over the US state of Alaska and Canada in recent days, according to a White House spokesman, were “not much” like the Chinese balloon shot down off the coast of South Carolina on Feb. 4. The investigation into the objects is still ongoing. The wreckage has not yet been found.
It is also not yet clear what the object was shot down on Sunday and why it flew through Canadian and American airspace. According to various American media, it was an “octagonal flying object”. It was decided to shoot it down as it could pose a hazard to commercial aviation.
