A military plane United States of America crashed during training in northern Australia. The plane had about 20 people on board.
Reported by AFP, Sunday (27/8/2023) the Australian Department of Defense confirmed that the Osprey vertical takeoff aircraft was carrying ‘defence personnel; AS. It said no Australian troops were involved.
“At this critical early stage, our focus is on responding to incidents and ensuring the safety of those involved,” the department said in a statement.

The emergency services incident map in the Northern Territory says there has been an ‘aircraft crash’ on Melville Island, about 60 kilometers (37 miles) north of mainland Australia on Sunday morning.
The aircraft was involved in exercises near the Tiwi Islands north of Darwin. Australian public broadcaster ABC said several people had reportedly been rescued.
Osprey took part in exercise Predators Run, a series of joint war games being held between the US and Australian militaries.
The Osprey is a tilt-rotor aircraft that combines the vertical take-off capabilities of a helicopter with the speed of a turboprop aircraft, according to the US Air Force.
