US leader Proud Boys sentenced to five months in prison | Abroad

Proud Boys played a leading role in the storming of the United States Capitol on January 6. However, Tarrio was arrested two days before that event for having pulled a Black Lives Matter banner from a church of a black faith community in the American capital a few weeks earlier. Then he destroyed that banner and set it on fire. He posted a photo on social media in which he posed with the banner and a lighter in his hand.

Tarrio, 37, organized many pro-Trump protests and demonstrations against the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020. Tarrio was not in Washington during the storming of parliament on January 6. After his arrest, he was ordered to leave Washington until his case was brought to trial.

In addition to jail time, he must also pay a $1,000 fine and pay the church $347 in damages.
