On Friday, the US administration appointed Kosovo war crimes attorney general Jack Smith to oversee a Justice Department investigation into former President Donald Trump’s handling of sensitive documents and congressional events, in a move that Trump, who announced his candidacy in the 2024 presidential elections, is deemed “unfair” and “politicized”.
US Attorney General Merrick Garland announced on Friday the appointment of Jack Smith, a war crimes prosecutor, to serve as special counsel to oversee the Justice Department’s investigation into former President Donald Trump’s handling of sensitive documents and on congressional events following the 2020 election.
