US Jobless Claims Rise Slightly but Four-Week Moving Average Shows Decline

(CercleFinance.com) – The number of jobless claims in the United States increased by 12,000 during the week of June 26, standing at 248,000, according to the Department of Labor, against 236,000 the previous week (this latest figure has been revised down from the 239,000 originally announced).

In addition, the four-week moving average – considered a better indicator of the underlying trend in the employment market – shows a drop of 3,500 in the number of registrations compared to the previous week, for s set to 253,250.

Finally, the number of people regularly receiving benefits fell by 13,000 to 1,720,000 during the week of June 19, the most recent period available for this statistic.
