“US Job Openings Hit 2-Year Low in February: Jolts Survey”

April 4 (Reuters) – Job openings in the United States fell in February to their lowest level in nearly two years, suggesting a cooling in the labor market.

The number of job vacancies, a measure of labor demand, fell by 632,000 to 9.9 million at the end of February, the lowest level since May 2021, according to the latest ‘Jolts’ survey. (Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey) from the Labor Department released Tuesday.

Economists polled by Reuters forecast 10.4 million job openings in February.

The number of job vacancies for January was also revised downwards to 10.6 million job vacancies from the 10.8 million previously announced.

This statistic is closely monitored within the Fed to determine the evolution of monetary policy.
