The Pentagon said the United States raided the facilities of Iran-backed Syrian militias yesterday (the 25th).
Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said “President Joe Biden ordered an air strike in response to a recent rocket attack in Iraq.”
Americans were injured in a rocket attack on the 15th.
“President Biden will act to protect Americans and allied forces,” said Kirby. “The United States responded this time in a modest way to stabilize the situation in eastern Syria and Iraq.”
Spokesman Kirby said the air raid destroyed many facilities of pro-Iranian militias on the eastern border of Syria.
Meanwhile, it is not known whether the amount of damage or casualties occurred in the air raid.
US retaliatory raids have been carried out several times over the past few years.
An unnamed U.S. Department of Defense official told Reuters that President Biden had been reported on several countermeasures and had chosen one of a limited number of countermeasures.
