Details: Speaking to reporters, Johnson said he had a “good meeting” with Zelensky, during which he “reiterated that we support him and oppose Putin’s brutal invasion.”
“The American people support freedom and are on the right side of history,” he added.
After this, the speaker of the US Congress focused entirely on criticizing the Joe Biden administration for the lack of a “clear strategy that will allow Ukraine to win,” and a mechanism for overseeing American aid, as well as reluctance to solve the problem on the southern border.
“We need specifics about what we’re doing in Ukraine, how we’re monitoring the use of precious American taxpayer dollars, and transformational change at the border. So far we haven’t got any of that,” Johnson said.
Let us remind you: The US Congress has not yet approved Biden’s request for additional funding to help Ukraine due to resistance from some Republicans. On December 6, a bill to provide aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan failed to pass a procedural vote in the Senate.
According to sources, the Biden administration is considering the possibility of concessions on Migration Policy to secure new aid for Ukraine and Israel in the supplemental funding bill.
