Details: The House of Representatives passed Speaker Mike Johnson’s funding bill to avert a shutdown.
The Senate will now have until Friday to approve it.
The bill provides for the continuation of funding for priority areas until January 19.
The rest of the government will be funded until February 2.
The bill does not provide for additional aid to Israel or Ukraine.

As you know, US President Joe Biden is trying to convince the US Congress to support aid to both Ukraine and Israel, and to approve a new $106 billion aid package, including more than $61 billion in funding to help Ukraine. The $11.8 billion is the budget support portion of this relief package. But new US House Speaker Mike Johnson is insisting that aid packages for Ukraine and Israel were considered separately by Congress, and the “Ukrainian” package was considered together with allocations for border security with Mexico. The White House and Senate criticized and rejected Johnson’s proposal for a temporary extension of funding with different deadlines for various government agencies. On November 14, US Presidential National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said that without the approval of a new large-scale aid package to Ukraine in Congress, US capabilities are decreasing every week.
