The world’s cases have risen sharply with the number of deaths increasing and many new, more infectious variants have emerged.
The United States, when it was still led by Donald Trump, called this virus the Chinese virus.
As for now, quote Daily Express On Sunday (18/7/2021), China came under pressure to fully cooperate with the World Health Organization (WHO), in investigating the origins of the pandemic.
It has been more than a year since its first appearance at the end of 2019, the cause of the emergence of this pandemic is still an enigma.
Some activists claim Covid-19 was created artificially at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, China, then escaped to the wider world.
China angrily denies the accusations, insisting that the coronavirus is transmitted naturally from animals to humans.
Hua Chunying, a spokeswoman for China’s foreign ministry, slammed speculation about how the coronavirus developed on Twitter.
“The world is witnessing worsening political manipulation in origin tracing,” he said, not accepting his country was accused of being the creator of COVID-19.
“When science is forced to submit to politics and justice succumbs to evil, danger can be imminent,” Hua continued.
The diplomat then sensationally claimed the US could “plant” evidence involving China.
“This has nothing to do with science & truth, but the sovereignty & dignity of a country,” he said.
“Make no mistake, China is not Iraq & the world will not be easily fooled.”
It is known, Covid-19 was first detected in China’s Hubei province, towards the end of 2019.
The virus that causes it then spread across the Earth, becoming a global pandemic that has killed more than four million people.
Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, head of the WHO, has urged China to cooperate in research on the origins of the corona virus.
The first phase of the WHO investigation, when it ended in February, concluded that it was unlikely the virus had escaped the laboratory.
In contrast, Covid-19 most likely spread to humans via bats or other animals.
However, the WHO has demanded that China provide raw patient data, since the start of the pandemic, to support its investigation.
Dr Ghebreyesus said Beijing failed to provide this information during their first investigation.
Earlier this year it was reported in the Wall Street Journal that US intelligence had evidence that staff at the Wuhan Institute of Virology fell ill with coronavirus-like symptoms, shortly before the first public cases were reported.
Zhao Lijian, a spokesman for China’s foreign minister, denounced the report as “completely untrue”.
Speaking to CNN, the insider said the intelligence community “still doesn’t know what the researchers actually suffered”.
“In the end, nothing is certain,” they said.
In September 2020 Scott Morrison, the prime minister of Australia, called for an independent investigation into the origins of Covid-19.
Shortly thereafter China announced hefty tariffs on some Australian-made products.
Now a variant of the corona virus is the cause of the disease Covid-19 have become more and more numerous, and increasingly difficult to control.
But the origin of the virus is still a question mark throughout the world community.
