US President Joe Biden and the country’s vice president and presidential candidate Kamala Harris watched the waves of the Iranian ballistic missile attack against Israel in real time, in the presence of the members of the National Security Council from whom they also received relevant information.
According to what has become known, President Biden, as he had announced earlier that he would do in case the information about an Iranian attack was confirmed, ordered the American forces in the region to contribute to the effort to intercept the ballistic missiles from the Israeli air defense systems.
According to leaks at the meeting, it became known that the action expected to be taken by the US to respond to the Iranian (counter) attack was discussed, as they had hinted that any escalation move on the part of Iran would bring a harsh reaction. Earlier it was known that the US and Israeli Defense Ministers, Lloyd Austin and Yoav Galland, discussed the threat of an Iranian missile attack and Israel’s readiness to defend itself.
Leaks from the US show that Iran had given advance notice of its intention to attack in response to Nasrallah’s assassination and had even provided specific details regarding the scope, size and targets of the attack.
The American reaction as described so far and pending the information of the White House spokesperson, is completely in line with the policy of unconditional support for Israeli aggression in the Middle East. The fact that the US in this particular case agrees that Israel is in self-defense and, in fact, contributes with its own means to the response to the Iranian strikes while warning of retaliation, demonstrates that the Biden administration is trapped in the cycle of violence that has opened in Middle East and cannot under any circumstances impose the agenda of “restraint” and the truce it supposedly wants.
The issue of the Middle East and the regional conflict that seems to have ignited, it is no longer possible not to affect the American elections, as for months it seems to be the purpose of the Biden administration.
