US state hospitals and health departments will also report less complete data to the CDC, which “will make it harder for the federal agency charged with detecting and responding to public health threats and protecting Americans,” the newspaper said.
“The end of the Biden administration’s coronavirus response measures and accompanying changes to reporting requirements highlight long-standing vulnerabilities in a splintered health surveillance system that fails to provide information. reliable on epidemics, even as experts warn of the possibility of a resurgence of the coronavirus”, he noted.
“What we currently have is not a national public health system, but a patchwork. As a result, when we want to get data and synthesize it, it takes a lot of work, which is way too time-consuming.”said Nirav Shah, deputy director of the CDC.
