In terms of national defense expenditures calculated by GFP, South Korea ranked 8th with $48 billion, one notch higher than last year, and North Korea ranked 59th with $3.5 billion. It occupied and rose 15 places from 74th place last year. Meanwhile, GFP calculates the military strength index by combining 48 items including population, troops, weapons, and defense budget. The closer the index is to 0, the stronger the military power is.
