Ramallah: The US made a surprise visit to the West Bank. Foreign Secretary Anthony Blinken. Blinken, who arrived under heavy security, met with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. The Palestinian Authority released pictures of the meeting.
The meeting was held in the West Bank city of Ramallah for about an hour. The Palestinian official news agency reported that during the meeting, Mahmoud Abbas asked Blinken to demand an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and to allow humanitarian aid there.
“I have no words to describe the Israeli attack on the Palestinians in Gaza and the genocide going on there. Israel is doing this in defiance of all international laws. About 10,000 Palestinians were killed, including 4,000 children. Thousands were injured. Many houses, buildings and hospitals were destroyed. How can we be silent at this time?’, Abbas told Blinken, the news agency reported.
US to bring aid to Gaza and restore essential services US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said Anthony Blinken told Mahmoud Abbas during the meeting that they were committed. The US has also supported the Palestinian demand for a Palestinian state. Blinken said they are committed.
Blinken arrived in Ramallah after visiting Jordan. The visit to the West Bank was not announced earlier due to security reasons.
