“The United States remains fully committed to defending the Republic of Korea, using various US capabilities, including our extended deterrent,” Austin told reporters, doubling Washington’s hopes of denuclearizing the Korean peninsula.
“There is no daylight between us in this matter,” he said.
Austin further stated that the importance of maintaining military readiness remains one of the main focal points on his agenda.
“Our troops remain ready for battle tonight and we continue to make progress towards the transition of wartime operational control to a future joint force command of South Korea ordered,” he said.
“Although fulfilling all the conditions for this transition will take more time, I am confident that this process will strengthen our alliance,” the Pentagon chief continued, as quoted. Sputniknews, Saturday (20/3/2021).
