“U.S. forces have identified unmanned vessels carrying explosives in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen and determined that they pose a threat to U.S. Navy ships and merchant vessels in the region,” the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said on the social networking platform X.
The strikes on two unmanned ships, which were drone ships loaded with explosives, were carried out at 3:30 p.m. local time (2:30 p.m. Latvian time).
US forces also carried out airstrikes on Sunday against five missiles in Yemen, one of which was intended to attack land and the others were intended to attack ships.
US and British forces carried out a third wave of joint strikes on Saturday evening, hitting 36 Houthi targets in 13 locations.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree announced the next day that “these attacks will not deter us from our (..) stance of supporting the steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.”
