The US Federal Aviation Administration has refused to allow entrepreneur Elon Musk to resume launches of the Starship spacecraft.
A statement from the American department indicates that the department has completed an investigation into the accident that occurred on April 20, when Starship, along with the Super Heavy launch vehicle, went into an uncontrolled rotation a few minutes after launch and collapsed.
“The completion of the investigation into the incident does not mean an immediate resumption of Starship launches in Boca Chica. SpaceX must implement all corrective actions significant to public safety and apply for and receive a modified license from the FAA,” the regulator said in a statement.
It is noted that the investigation identified “multiple causes” of the accident and identified 63 “corrective actions” for Musk’s SpaceX company to avoid relapses.
Previously, Musk said that Starship, designed for deep space exploration, is ready for a new launch from a site in Boca Chica on the Texas coast and is awaiting regulatory approval.
