Washington D.C. – Gilead Sciences’ US drug Remdesivir is expected to become the standard therapy for Covid-19, according to the US government’s disease expert. The head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Anthony Fauci, called the first results of a government study on Wednesday “really very important”. Remdesivir has shown a “clear, significant, positive effect” on recovery time. “This will be the standard treatment,” said the US government expert. The FDA is currently speaking to Gilead about ways to provide easy access to the drug.
