Through an official statement shared on social networks, the United States Embassy in Havana issued an important message addressed to those applicants who received an invitation related to the Family Reunification Permit Process (FRP) .
According to the publication, those who received said invitation must submit the I-134A form to be able to participate in the process.
The US Embassy in Cuba indicated that the procedure will be carried out almost entirely digitally, with the only physical action that will be needed being the medical check-up.
The message addressed to these people also informed that the branch of the Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Havana Field Office will not process FRP humanitarian permit cases.
The authorities issued this warning because, although they are not involved in the process, the Havana Field Office was receiving I-134A forms by mistake.
In this sense, applicants were asked to review the link: to resolve any possible doubts.
Important! 📷 This message is only for those who received the invitation to participate in the FRP in 2023. Those who received the invitation letter for the FRP in 2023 must submit form 134 A to participate in the modernized and almost completely digital process,… pic.twitter.com/OiK6ywlvEQ

Recently, Joe Biden’s administration implemented new strategies to expedite the resolution of cases of those Cubans who have been waiting for years to emigrate to the United States to reunite with their loved ones. Among these strategies is the elimination of the in-person interview at the US Embassy in Havana.
In this way, the North American government made most of the process done online, with the only exception being the medical examination.
However, the technology being used for this new application process is not completely perfected, which is why some problems have been detected. These inconveniences have caused Cuban citizens to complain on social networks.
“The invitations started coming in and we applied for an I-134A. Everything was fast and very efficient. Approvals began to arrive in a matter of hours and days. The first week was wonderful, but then it slowed down a bit. However, people who managed to get their medical checkup and applied to CBP are facing a problem,” said user María Caballero, who assured that she was approved for the FRP, but has not been able to complete her application on the CBP One platform due to a technological failure.
