Donald Trump he is convinced that he can still have his say: the counting of the ballots is still in progress and between appeals and counter-claims it is possible that something may change between now and next week. The result is unlikely to be overturned, but the tycoon continues to flaunt optimism through social media, claiming that in the end he will win his battle, namely the presidential elections. The main novelty concerns the possible reshuffling of the results in the key states: as reported also by Dagospia, the site Real Clear Politics, who is not close to Donald Trump, would have avoided assigning Pennsylvania to Joe Biden. That result was used by the Cnn to “call” – as they say in the jargon – the victory of the donkey candidate.
As for this state, which is ruled by a Democrat, Trump points out above all that Republican observers were not allowed to watch the count. There is a legal act concerning this issue that has begun its process. In order to reach 270 major voters – as required by the American electoral system – it is necessary to Joe Biden snatch the majority of votes in that state. Otherwise he would need other joints, which cannot be taken for granted at the start, considering that in Nevada and Arizona the tellers are still working. And Trump, in his social interventions, announced that something should change early next week.
The recount, by law, should instead take place in Michigan, Wisconsin and Georgia, where the gap between the two contenders is really narrow. The president of the United States in office, net of what many Italian commentators have written these days, does not seem at all convinced of his rival’s victory. Melania and Ivanka Trump, meanwhile, have taken the same position: legal votes have to be counted, they both said. Even the GOP, with Vice President Mike Pence in the lead, is convinced of the same principle. And the leaders of the majority in the Senate and the minority in Congress have not departed at all from the Trumpian line. Those who think otherwise are Mitt Romney, who basically asked Trump to acknowledge Biden’s victory. A consideration also shared by George W. Bush. But these two exponents are part of the old management of the Republican Party.
Meanwhile The Donald has also launched a Super Pac intended to raise funds for its future political activities. 2024 is not that far off, and Trump has even indicated his intention to run for the presidential elections in four years. At the moment, however, Trump still seems convinced that he can triumph in this electoral appointment, on which the word “end” has not yet officially arrived. Amidst allegations of fraud and alleged software errors, the tycoon expects to present a sufficiently substantial number of questions, perhaps to be able to reach the judgment of the Supreme Court. But the road to this goal is not exactly easy. On closer inspection, Trump’s strategy could also be linked to timing: the more time passes, the more difficult the Gop may have to disengage, in case, from his figure.
Meanwhile, Joe Biden and his team are also considering whether to take action against Trump. The elected president is already active in the field of the pandemic, so he has essentially already set up his task force, but he cannot be considered in office. For the formalization and the settlement, if everything goes as planned, we will have to wait until next January 20. But Trump seems to have plans to complicate matters considerably for Biden. Right now, the former vice president of Barack Obama is even considering a series of actions to be presented against the Trump-led administration.
