The most defining moment of the debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump was right after it… ended, when Taylor Swift endorsed Harris for the presidency.
In her post on Instagram, the popular singer endorsed the Democratic candidate, possibly bringing her far more votes than the debate itself, in which Harris is considered the winner as she managed to put Trump permanently on the defensive.
The economy, the number one issue on the minds of American voters, immigration, abortion, democracy and climate change were the main issues on which the two candidates for the White House were asked to answer in the first – and probably last – debate with each other.
Trump held back and did not come off as half-hearted as expected, having a woman and a black candidate against him. But he didn’t hold back on the lies, claiming, for example, that Democrats support “afterbirth abortions” or that Haitian immigrants are “eating dogs and cats” in an Ohio town.
When Kamala “stepped on the callus” of Trump
During the call, Harris kept trying to goad Trump and he “bite the bait” every time: she told him, for example, that world leaders are making fun of him and called him “weak” but the comment that really seemed to ” he’s stepping on the callus” is when Harris told him that his campaign rallies are “boring”.
The Republican nominee often seemed out of control with his answers, unrepentant in his false claims of fraud in the 2020 election, dramatic (eg, “our nation is dying”) and over the top (eg, “I’m doing the most incredible campaign rallies in the history of policy”).
The debate was the first time Harris and Trump met in person. Indicative that the incumbent vice president won the telethon is that Republicans are already complaining that the two ABC reporters who asked the two White House candidates were biased against Trump and favored Harris.
