(AGENPARL) – Sat 02 November 2024 US elections, Italian parliamentary delegation on mission to the United States. Zoffili: “OSCE observation is fundamental to guarantee transparency in a crucial vote for international balances”
The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly will participate in the observation mission of the presidential elections in the United States of America, scheduled for November 5, with the collaboration of over 150 parliamentarians from 40 countries.
The Italian delegation, led by President Eugenio Zoffili (Lega), is made up of senators Alessandro Alfieri (PD), Anna Bilotti (M5S), Gianluca Cantalamessa (Lega), Giuseppe De Cristofaro (Misto-AVS) and deputies Vincenzo Amendola (PD ), Fabrizio Comba (FDI), Mauro Del Barba (IV), Emanuele Loperfido (FDI), Federica Onori (Action) and Catia Polidori (FI). The team will carry out election observation activities in the cities of New York, San Diego, Washington DC and the state of Virginia.
“This mission – declares Eugenio Zoffili, head of the Italian delegation – is fundamental to guarantee the transparency and regularity of US elections, in compliance with the commitments undertaken through the 1990 OSCE Copenhagen Document. What we are about to experience will be a important and crucial moment not only for American citizens: in a period of global crises and international tensions, the choice that emerges from the polls will inevitably have a significant impact also for Europe and for the entire global geopolitical framework. We will work with our OSCE colleagues, in a context of strong competition, ensuring maximum transparency and correctness of electoral procedures so that citizens can have full confidence in the outcome of the elections”.
