The group of Greek-Americans who will be in the seats of the House of Representatives in Washington has been strengthened. Four were re-elected and two were elected for the first time. One of the oldest failed to be elected.
Gus Bilirakis
The expatriate Republican in Florida’s 12th District crushed his 27-year-old Democratic opponent, Rock Abujaunde, with 71.1% and 306,160 votes, who collected 28.9%. Bilirakis has been elected MP continuously since 2006.
Nicole Malliotaki
The Republican congresswoman in New York’s 11th District was re-elected with 64.7% and 164,908 votes. Her opponent, the Democrats, Andrea Morse, collected 35.3%. This is Nicole Malliotaki’s third consecutive term.
Dina Titus
The Nevada Democrat, with 86% of the ballots counted, leads with 51.1% to 45.5% of her opponent, Republican Mark Robertson, despite the fact that the Democrats lost the state in the presidential election. Dina Titus has been an elected Member of Parliament since 2009.
Chris Pappas
The Democratic congressman was elected in New Hampshire’s 1st District with 203,077 votes (54.4%), to Republican Russell Prescott’s 170,577 votes (45.6%). This will be his fourth term.
Maggie Goodlander
Also in New Hampshire, in the 2nd District, Democratic expat Maggie Goodlander was elected for the first time, with 53.3% (194,075 votes) to 46.7% (170,833 votes) for her opponent, Lily Tang Williams.
Mike Haridopoulos
The expatriate Republican was elected in Florida’s 8th District with 62.3% (280,067 votes) to 37.7% (169,821 votes) for his Democratic opponent, Sandy Kennedy.
