Seven weeks before the presidential election, Kamala Harris leads Donald Trump by at least 5 points in two key states, Pennsylvania and Michigan, according to a Quinnipiac University poll.
A week after the phone battle between the vice president and the former president, Harris has 51 percent of the vote in Pennsylvania, compared to 45 percent for Trump. This state is considered crucial in the race for the White House as it guarantees whoever wins it more electors than the other six states.
In Pennsylvania, the September 10 telefight took place, which may be the only one between the two rivals. In the same State, Donald Trump was the target of an assassination attempt on July 13, when he was wounded by a bullet in the ear.
According to the Quinnipiac poll, Harris also leads Trump in Michigan (50% to 45%) and, narrowly, in Wisconsin (48% to 47%).
The candidate who is defeated in all three States has theoretically no chance of being elected. Trump had won them in 2016, and Joe Biden emerged as the winner of all three in the 2020 election.
The poll, conducted Sept. 12-16, included 1,331 voters in Pennsylvania, 905 in Michigan and 1,075 in Wisconsin. The margin of statistical error amounts to 2.7-3.3%.
