The news about the US election campaign from October 10, 2024:

Trump rules out second televised debate with Harris

Republican US presidential candidate Donald Trump has ruled out a second televised debate with his rival Kamala Harris. “It’s very late in the process, (early) voting has already begun, there will be no repeat!” Trump said on his online service Truth Social on Wednesday. A few hours earlier, the television channel Fox News had offered to host a TV duel this month.

“Kamala made it clear yesterday that she wouldn’t do anything different than Joe Biden, so there’s nothing to debate,” Trump continued.

Trump promises supporters in Pennsylvania “energy dominance”

During a campaign appearance in the hotly contested US state of Pennsylvania, Republican US presidential candidate Donald Trump promised his supporters “energy independence” if elected. At the same time, the former head of state misrepresented the balance of US fossil fuel production at his rally on Wednesday in the city of Scranton, where US President Joe Biden grew up. “We will have energy independence and energy dominance, just like we did before four short years,” Trump said.

“Four years ago we were energy independent,” the Republican continued. “Can you believe that we now get our energy from Venezuela?” On the first day of his presidency, he will tell Pennsylvania energy workers to “frack, frack, frack” and “drill.”

Biden: Trump spreads “barrage of lies” about storm disasters

US President Joe Biden has accused Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump of spreading a “barrage of lies” about the US government’s response to the severe weather disasters. “There has been a reckless, irresponsible and merciless spread of disinformation and outright lies,” Biden said in Washington on Wednesday. “Former President Trump led this barrage of lies.”

Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris commented on Hurricane Milton, which is considered extremely dangerous. It is the second storm to hit the southeastern United States, after “Helene” caused destruction in several states at the end of September and cost the lives of more than 230 people.
