US: Durable goods orders jump in May

Durable goods orders in the United States jumped 15.8% in May, thanks to the performance of transportation equipment, according to data released Thursday by the Commerce Department.

Durable goods orders totaled $ 194.4 billion in May, seasonally adjusted.

Analysts had expected an increase of 11.6%.

In April, in full containment to try to curb the COVID-19 epidemic, orders for durable goods fell 18.1%.

Transportation equipment orders jumped 80.7% to $ 46.85 billion.

Excluding transport, the increase in orders is reduced to 4% and excluding defense, it stands at 15.5%
