US doctors reveal new symptom

Several American doctors have revealed that persistent hiccups are a symptom of the new coronavirus (covid-19). They gave the information in a study published in the scientific journal The American Journal of Emergency Medicine. Their studies included a 62-year-old patient residing in Chicago, who went to hospital in April due to hiccups that had persisted for four days. According to the magazine’s information, the study also found that the affected individual suffered from ischemic heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes.

No known symptoms of coronavirus

X-rays showed several lung lesions, and tests for covid-19 were positive. In addition, the 60-year-old was not showing any known symptoms of coronavirus, such as a sore throat or a form of cough. Also, the examination pointed out that the patient had undergone treatment with hydroxychloroquine. “To our knowledge, this is the first report of persistent hiccups in a patient with a positive result for Covid-19 in the literature on emergency medicine” the study reported. Note that this is not the first time that atypical symptoms of the coronavirus have been mentioned by doctors.

Evidence that the virus can cause delirium in particular
