US discusses Iranian-White House threat with Israel – 12/22/2021 at 6:05 pm

JERUSALEM, December 22 (Reuters) – White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan spoke with his Israeli counterpart about the threat posed by Iran’s nuclear program and other “destabilizing” activities in Tehran in Middle East, said the US presidency on Wednesday.

Visiting Israel, Jake Sullivan briefed Israeli national security adviser Eyal Hulata on progress in talks on Iran’s nuclear program in Vienna and raised issues of “vital strategic importance” to both countries , specifies the White House in a press release.

“The delegations discussed the need to address all aspects of the threat posed by Iran, including its nuclear program, its destabilizing activities in the region and its support for terrorist groups,” the statement read.

The United States and Israel concluded that Iran constitutes a “serious threat to the region and to international peace and security” and reaffirmed their determination to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons, adds the White House.

The indirect talks held in Vienna between Iran and the United States to save the 2015 nuclear deal, denounced by former US President Donald Trump in 2018, were suspended on Friday for ten days after very little progress since their recovery at the end of November.

The negotiators only have “a few weeks” to reach common ground, the European countries (France, Great Britain and Germany) participating in the talks said on this occasion. nL8N2T256D
