The Department of Justice is expected to say that Visa has prevented competition by taking various steps to prevent competitors from entering the debit card market.
The Justice Department will begin an investigation in 2021. In 2023, the department’s antitrust division issued a request for documents and information about Visa’s debit card practices and competition from other companies.
