US Denies Plans to Deploy Troops in Gaza as Death Toll Reaches 30,000

Washington (ANTARA) – United States Department of Defense spokesman Pat Ryder on Tuesday (5/3) said the US had no plans to deploy military troops in the Gaza Strip.

“As far as I know, there are no plans at this time to have US troops in Gaza,” Ryder said at a press conference.

The US Department of Defense and the Royal Jordanian Air Force have dropped tens of thousands of meals into the Palestinian enclave as part of a joint humanitarian operation.

On October 7 2023, the Palestinian resistance group Hamas launched a massive attack on Israel from the Gaza Strip, killing 1,200 people. In addition, Hamas is holding around 240 other hostages.

Israel then launched a counteroffensive, ordered a total siege of Gaza, and began a ground offensive aimed at eliminating Hamas fighters and rescuing hostages.

To date, at least 30,410 people in the Gaza Strip have been killed, according to local authorities.

Earlier on Tuesday, the US State Department said that the deaths of 30,000 civilians were not an acceptable price to pay to wipe Hamas off the face of the earth.
