US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin Transferred to Walter Reed Medical Center for Emergency Bladder Problem, Pentagon Says

Dubai United Arab Emirates (CNN)– Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder said that US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin was transferred to Walter Reed Military Medical Center in Washington, after an “emergency bladder problem.”

A Pentagon spokesman said in a statement on Sunday: “Today, at approximately 2:20 p.m., Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin was transferred by his security guard to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to be examined (following) symptoms indicating the presence of a bladder emergency.” “.

The spokesman indicated that “the Deputy Secretary of Defense and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff have been notified,” in addition to notifying the White House and Congress.

In January, a Walter Reed Medical Center statement said the US Secretary of Defense was being treated for prostate cancer.

The center’s statement indicated that a diagnosis in early December showed that Austin had cancer, and then he underwent a “minor surgery” on December 22.

Austin returned to the hospital last month due to complications resulting from a urinary tract infection.

At the time, the Pentagon did not disclose to the White House the health condition of Austin, who later apologized for not informing President Joe Biden.
