US Defense Official: Too Early to Draw Conclusions on Ukrainian Army’s Counter-Offensive

Washington said that it is still too early to draw conclusions about the counter-offensive operation of the Ukrainian army.

The counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is in “beginning of the middle phase”. To date, the Ukrainian military is trying to find weaknesses in the Russian defense, so it is too early to draw any conclusions about the counter-offensive operation.

The corresponding statement was made by the Deputy Head of the US Department of Defense for Political Affairs, Colin Kahl. briefing on Friday.

According to him, “main tests” will begin when the Armed Forces of Ukraine discover weaknesses in the enemy’s defense.

In turn, US presidential adviser Jake Sullivan said at a briefing that the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian army is not easy.

At the same time, he noted the mood of Ukraine to continue offensive operations and added that The Armed Forces of Ukraine have not yet used the significant forces that they have.

Recall that the head of military intelligence of Ukraine Kirill Budanov compared the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian army with the operation of the Russian Federation to capture Bakhmut and expressed confidence that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will definitely succeed, but this takes time.

Earlier, Generals Alexander Syrsky and Alexander Tarnavsky said that the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian army is proceeding according to previously approved plans.

In turn, the German publication Bild writes with reference to the Ukrainian military that the main problem for the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the counteroffensive is enemy aircraft and drones.
