US Defense Minister Announces Strengthened Presence in Middle East Amidst Israeli-Hamas Conflict

US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin announced that the United States would strengthen its presence in the Middle East due to ongoing tensions.

This Saturday, October 21, the American Minister of Defense, Lloyd Austin indicated that the United States would strengthen its military presence in the Middle East, in particular due to the conflict between Israel and Hamas. “After extensive discussions with President Biden on recent escalations by Iran and its proxy forces in the Middle East region, I today ordered a series of additional measures to further strengthen the position of the Ministry of Defense in the region”, noted a statement.

Among the means that will be deployed, the ministry mentions the “pre-deployment” new military forces. However, the number of soldiers was not specified by the head of the Pentagon. “These measures will strengthen regional deterrence efforts, increase the protection of American forces in the region and will help in the defense of Israel.”added Lloyd Austin.

A high altitude anti-missile defense system (THAAD) should also be mobilized “across the region” as well as Patriot surface-to-air missile batteries capable of intercepting long-range missilesstill according to the press release.
