The US Federal Communications Commission has identified five Chinese telecommunications companies as a threat to national security.
These companies also include the well-known smartphone and telecommunications equipment manufacturers Huawei and ZTE, which have previously been subject to US sanctions.
Jessica Rosenworsel, acting chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, said declaring these companies a threat to national security was “a big step towards restoring confidence in US mobile networks.”
