US Customs seize 86 fake championship rings

A shipment of counterfeit sporting goods, containing 86 fake championship rings, was seized by US customs earlier this week.

The fake championship rings of the New York Yankees, Chicago Bulls and Philadelphia Eagles were seized on September 13 by officers at the Port of Chicago.

Together, they would have been worth nearly $ 2.4 million, if they had been genuine.

Authorities said the shipment from China was destined for Florissant, a suburb of the city of St. Louis, Missouri.

In fact, 22 of the rings were in the colors of the Saint-Louis Cardinals.

This seizure is an opportunity for the authorities to warn sports fans against the smuggling of sports articles.
