After Meng Wanzhou was arrested in Canada in 2018, the United States filed an extradition request to Canada the following year, but Meng Wanzhou remained in Canada until her release last year. Though the US court ruling ended nearly three years of legal battles, the US still regards Huawei as a threat to national security and last week imposed a ban on the sale of new equipment by Chinese telecom firms such as Huawei and ZTE .
