US Congress demands details on the origin of the corona virus

Unanimously and thus impartially, members of the US Congress voted for a draft law according to which their own secret services should make all information on the origin of the corona virus accessible. Only the President’s signature is missing for it to come into force.
The US Congress wants intelligence information on the origin of the corona virus to be made public. The House of Representatives voted unanimously to pass the bill. The Senate had previously voted in favor of it. The law will not come into effect until US President Joe Biden signs it into law.
There is reason to believe that the corona pandemic originated in a laboratory in the central Chinese city of Wuhan, it said in the adopted text. Therefore, the US intelligence coordinator should release “as much information as possible” about the origin of the virus and make it available to the public.
According to the latest information from the White House, there is still no unanimous opinion in the US government about the origin of the virus. Some US agencies, such as the FBI, still believe the virus was likely transmitted naturally, while others are undecided or assume it was a lab glitch.
FBI assumes lab incident
“The FBI has long assumed that the origin of the pandemic is most likely a possible laboratory incident in Wuhan,” FBI Director Christopher Wray said in a recent interview. The White House, however, emphasized that the investigations were not completed.
The vote in the House of Representatives is now also noteworthy because such bipartisan approval in the House of Representatives is very rare. Should Democrat Biden sign the bill, the requested information would have to be given to Congress within 90 days. Redactions in the report should then only be made to protect sources and working methods of the secret services. China has always denied allegations of a possible laboratory accident.
