BVB legend Marco Reus (35) recently signed a contract with Los Angeles Galaxy, and Leo Messi signed in the USA in the summer of 2023. In Antoine Griezmann, clubs from Major League Soccer have apparently already identified the next superstar from Europe.
Major League Soccer continues to be an attractive destination for ageing top stars from Europe. After Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, Lionel Messi (Inter Miami), Olivier Giroud (Los Angeles FC) and Marco Reus (Los Angeles Galaxy), US clubs have already identified another transfer target in Europe’s top leagues.
According to information from Fabrizio Romano, Los Angeles FC already showed interest in Antoine Griezmann last summer, but the French superstar remained loyal to Atletico Madrid. After the end of the season in the Primera Division, clubs from Major League Soccer want to make a new attempt, according to the transfer expert.
Griezmann’s contract with the Colchoneros runs until 2026, and the summer of 2025 would be the last opportunity for the capital club to collect a reasonable transfer fee for its 33-year-old star. At least as things stand. Because Atleti is reportedly trying to extend Griezmann’s contract.

Griezmann raves about the States
Griezmann has made no secret of his preference for the United States in the past. If the 2018 World Cup winner wants to follow the lure of overseas at the end of the season, Atleti would probably not put any obstacles in the way of their deserving player.
Julian Alvarez (24, came from Manchester City for 75 million euros) has already become the new anchor in coach Diego Simeone’s attacking department. In addition, Alexander Sörloth, a new centre-forward, came to the Metropolitano from Villarreal for a transfer fee of 32 million euros.
Former international striker Olivier Giroud recently indicated that he expects to see his long-time national team colleague in Major League Soccer soon. “When he saw the news that I had signed with LAFC, he was a bit jealous,” the Los Angeles FC newcomer said of Griezmann. “I told him: ‘Don’t worry, hopefully we’ll meet soon.'”
