Nusantaratv.com – The United States (US) government will begin administering the Covid-19 vaccine to its citizens in early December this year.
The statement was conveyed by Dr Moncef Slaoui, Head of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which has the authority to grant drug distribution permits.
Slaoui explained, Pfizer applied for an emergency use of the corona virus vaccine.
The plan, the supervisory committee and adviser for the vaccine section at the FDA will meet on December 10 to discuss the request.
According to Slaoui, if the request is approved, the Covid-19 vaccine can be distributed the next day.
Their plan is to immediately ship and distribute the vaccine to the immunization site no later than 24 hours after it has been agreed.
“So I predict at least two days after it is approved it will be distributed. So at least 11 or 12 December,” said Slaoui.
Given that this is an emergency use for the corona virus vaccine, the number of drugs available will not be enough.
For that, he emphasized that the first wave that gets priority is medical workers, the elderly, to groups with congenital diseases.
As for the age allowed to get the vaccine, the youngest is 18 years.
