(Washington = Yonhap News) Correspondent Ryu Ji-bok = The US has completed all the screening procedures required by the authorities for vaccination against the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) of Pfizer, a pharmaceutical company on the 13th (local time).

CNN broadcast reported that Robert Redfield, Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), accepted the vaccine use recommendation that the CDC advisory body, the Vaccination Advisory Committee (ACIP), decided the day before.

In order to approve the emergency use of the COVID-19 vaccine in the United States, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and CDC must go through relevant review procedures.

The FDA accepted it on the 11th the following day when the advisory body, the Vaccine and Biological Drugs Advisory Committee (VRBPAC), recommended approval for urgent use of a vaccine developed by Pfizer and Bioentech on the 10th.

The CDC’s ACIP then decided to recommend the vaccination of Americans over the age of 16 in favor of 11 to 0 on the 12th, and Redfield’s director accepted this day.

The United States began transporting the vaccine produced at Pfizer’s Michigan plant on the same day to distribute it nationwide.

These first vaccines, which can be administered to 2.9 million people, will be distributed throughout the United States by the 16th, and it is observed that the first vaccine will be vaccinated as early as the 14th.

CNN said, “It means that the vaccine can be vaccinated in the United States now,” and “the first dose is expected on the morning of the 14th.”
