Embassy United States of America from Ukraine called on all its citizens in the former Soviet Union to consider leaving now.
Reported from the news agency AFP, Thursday (27/1/2022), this call was made due to increasing concerns over the possibility of invasion Russia.
“Embassy United States of America called on U.S. citizens at Ukraine to consider leaving now using commercial transportation options or other available private transportation options,” the US Embassy said in a statement released Wednesday (26/1/2022).
The embassy warned that the security situation “could deteriorate with little notice”.
“US citizens wishing to leave Ukraine currently have many options via commercial flights from all of Ukraine’s international airports,” the embassy added.
Ukraine and Western countries accuse Russia of amassing tens of thousands of its troops on Ukraine’s borders in preparation for a possible invasion.
Previously, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs United States of America on Sunday (23/1) local time said the government had allowed the ‘voluntary’ departure of non-essential staff of the US Embassy in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine.
The British government then followed the US move by withdrawing some of its staff and relatives from its Embassy in Ukraine in response to the “escalating threat from Russia“.
