Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said emergency workers were continuing to dismantle the wreckage of the 12-story building. He said the main focus of the search was to find survivors.
“Our top priority continues to be seeking and saving as many lives as we can,” said Levine Cava.

Aided by dogs, infrared scanners and heavy equipment, rescue teams are hoping people can survive in any air pockets that may have formed in the debris.
“The biggest thing right now is hope. That’s what drives us. It’s a very difficult situation,” said Fire Chief Alan Cominsky.
