Darius Lee was a 21-year-old student basketball player at Houston Baptist University and Athlete of the Year at his school in Texas. In December he would have received a bachelor’s degree in sports management, in 2023 he would have been approved for the NBA draft.
Now the points and rebound king of Houston Baptist University is dead. This is confirmed by his college basketball team in a mourning message. He was shot in a shooting in his hometown of Harlem, New York, on Monday, and died a little later. According to ESPN, eight other people were wounded after the shooting.
The news comes at a time when the United States is again fiercely debating gun laws following the tragic shooting spree by an 18-year-old boy at a school in Uvalde, Texas, which killed 21 people. (str)
