The US Central Command said in a statement on Sunday morning that the US Army’s ship General Frank S. Beeson left Joint Base Langley-Eustis on its way to the eastern Mediterranean to provide humanitarian aid to Gaza by sea.
The statement added that the logistical support ship Bison left “less than 36 hours after President Joe Biden announced that the United States would provide humanitarian aid to Gaza by sea.”
The ship “carries the first equipment to establish a temporary dock for the delivery of vital humanitarian supplies,” the statement said.
The US President had announced that the US army would establish a temporary dock on the Mediterranean coast in Gaza.
Biden revealed the plan during his State of the Union address to Congress after agreeing last week to airdrop American aid into Gaza.

Washington launches a sea dock project in Gaza to ensure the flow of aid
A Pentagon spokesman told reporters on Friday that the temporary port that Washington is seeking to establish to speed up the delivery of aid to Gaza will take “several weeks” to plan and implement.
He pointed out that the United States ultimately aims to provide two million meals to the citizens of Gaza daily.
The Pentagon stated that the operation may include a thousand American soldiers, but that American forces will not be on Gaza soil, explaining, “We are in the process of determining the resources and forces that will be deployed to establish the temporary port on the Gaza coast.”
The Pentagon added that Washington is working on details with partner countries in the Middle East.
