US Army Orders New Batch of Unmanned Aerial Target Drones: Kratos Unmanned Aerial Systems

The US Army has ordered a new batch of unmanned aerial vehicles from Kratos Unmanned Aerial Systems. Drones are used as targets.

What is known

So far, there is no information about which unmanned targets the US Army has ordered. The service has signed a $95 million contract with Kratos, which makes the BQM-167A and BQM-177A target drones. The contract must be completed by July 6, 2028.

BQM-167A is equipped with a turbojet engine, which provides a maximum speed of 1135 km / h (M = 0.92) at an altitude of 15.24 km. The drone can fly for three hours and cover 2600 km.

The BQM-177A is a newer unmanned target. It is capable of imitating anti-ship missiles and can reach speeds close to the speed of sound (M=0.96 / 1185 km/h).
